KRAV is a key player in the organic market in Sweden since 1985. We develop organic standards and promote the KRAV-label. The KRAV-label is well-known among Swedish consumers. The aided awareness is 98 percent!
The KRAV-label stands for:
Sound, natural environment
Solid care for animals
We guarantee that as far as possible, the food we serve is organic.
Organic food contributes to better health through reduced pesticide exposure for all and increased nutritional quality. In order to understand the importance of eating organic food from the perspective of toxic pesticide contamination, we need to look at the whole picture—from the farmworkers who do the valuable work of growing food, to the waterways from which we drink, the air we breathe, and the food we eat. Organic food can feed us and keep us healthy.
StrandNära Organic Microfarming
2019-2020 we are starting up two own organic microfarms. Focusing on the term: from soil to table to soil – a sustainable way of living.
The term microfarm, sometimes expressed as two words: micro farm, is used to describe agriculture that is done on a smaller scale in urban and suburban areas. As the name suggests, microfarms typically operate in small land areas of five acres or less.
Microfarms are some of the best types of gardens you can build because they are helpful, sustainable, environmentally friendly, and a great way to increase agricultural output in our modern lifestyle.
Commercial microfarmers often focus on high-dollar specialty crops because they don’t produce large enough quantities to provide staple veggies like lettuce or tomatoes. As a result, they almost always sell to niche markets. For example, microgreens are an excellent crop choice for microfarms, as are mushrooms, garlic, and herbs. Aquaponics also make nice microfarms because they make a good use of space, combining fish and plants in one system.
Microfarming has been practiced since mankind started agricultural practices, but the concept is going through a resurgence in today’s urban cities. While there are various benefits to microfarms, one of the most appealing aspect of microfarms is that they do not require significant investment or labor. Anyone can take up microfarming to maintain a healthy lifestyle, as it’s a great way to improve our health through physical exercise, organic food, and nature interaction.
Though the microfarms are small in nature, they offer a wide range of farming options. Microfarmers grow a wide range of crops and are involved in animal husbandry. Furthermore, they help us produce some of our own food, increase sustainability, and reduce our reliance on commercial markets.
Also in the process, people with microfarms give back to nature by being nature-friendly. Thus, a microfarm has advantages in our physical, commercial, and environmental orders and responsibilities.
Whether it is a small kitchen garden, a larger plot, or just a tiny area at your house separated for gardening as a hobby, a microfarm can be beneficial.
